Company Profile: Safeco® was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1923 by Hawthorne K. Dent as the General Insurance Company of America, as a property and casualty insurer protecting individuals and families with personal insurance coverage. This name is still used by Safeco on some of its insurance products. Safeco Insurance is now a member of the Liberty Mutual Group, and with the financial strength of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company combined with a national network of local independent agents Safeco focuses exclusively on personal insurance nationally.
